CHS PRACTICAL TRAINING – OUR COMPETITIVE EDGE

As a result of our high standards and industry recognition, we are one of the very few tertiary institutions able to guarantee practical training at leading, full-service hospitality institutions in and around Pretoria.  This training takes place under close supervision and according to a roster to complement the theoretical training.  CHS takes full responsibility for the placing, rotating and rostering of our students and monitors their evaluation and progress during their practical training off campus.

 

  • Our experience has shown us that the use of technological gadgets by students in the classroom distracts them from concentrating and participating in lectures which has a negative influence on their results and social interactive skills. CHS offers you professional, hands-on training in well equipped, air-conditioned facilities allowing for personalised, interactive training sessions. We accept a limited number of students each year to ensure that you receive the personal attention you deserve.The CHS-staff and student leaders will endeavour to ensure that you have an unforgettable student life, while studying toward a career in the hospitality industry.
  • Our dynamic lecturers, administrative staff, expert consultants and guest lecturers are fully qualified and have a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry and its related fields. CHS only uses assessors and moderators registered with The Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA) to ensure that the requirements of the prescribed curricula are met.
  • At the start of the students’ first year of study, they are engaged in a weeklong team building workshop mainly off campus, and at a holiday resort.  Lecturers, administrative staff, management and second year student leaders join in the fun of this “ice-breaking” event which ensures camaraderie and respect for each one’s  uniqueness in life.
  • We offer assistance to our students in planning their careers and provide guidance regarding job opportunities.  In the first semester of their second year, CHS presents a weeklong CAREER WORKSHOP. Representatives of reputable national and international hospitality establishments are invited to address them on career opportunities available and guidelines on applying for such work opportunities.
