The World descends on Gauteng for the Memorial Service of Nelson Mandela.

The world and delegations of international dignitaries will descend on Gauteng for one of the biggest memorial services to be held in South-Africa.

Fleets of aircraft touch down on the inclement runways of Waterkloof Air Force Base and Swartkop Air Force Base, as convoys of vehicles make their way to the FNB Stadium (outside of Johannesburg) to attend the memorial service of the late Nelson Mandela.  A whopping 53 heads of state (and their entourages) will attend the public memorial service together with everyday South-Africans from around the country.

The Jacaranda-city is buzzing with activity, with international correspondents  relaying news and events of the week-long memorial service, hotels and establishments preparing for the arrival of international guests and the Union Building preparing for the public viewing.

Madiba (Nelson Mandela, affectionately referred to) was a man of stature and dignity, touching many lives and influencing world events.  It is a day of celebration, not sadness, as the world commemorates his life and the principles he stood for.
