Autumn Elegance10_25 June_phixrAs the winter chill grabs hold of our little toes, Professional Cookery students presented an aptly themed “Autumn Elegance” event in aid of Wetnose Animal Rescue.

The students’ warm reception and broad smiles ensured warm hearts, even though the chill was in the air.

Smoked Venison Loin with a Kumquat Compote was served to tantalize the taste buds as an Amuse Bouche.  The starter of Goat’s Cheese and Cucumber Terrine was served with roasted Beetroot.

The main course of pan-seared line fish (Hake) provided the chefs with a bit of a challenge in the kitchen but the chefs remained level-headed and managed to send out warm plates.  Guests were treated to Durbanville wines for starter and main course.  The Durbanville Hills Chardonnay 2013 paired wonderfully with the earthiness of the Sundried Tomato and Lentil Ragout on the main course.

Dessert was a compilation of sins featuring a “Death by Chocolate cake” as well as home-made Turkish Delight which was paired with a sweeter wine, Drostdy Hof Adelpracht 2013.
