Review: I love 80’s Pop-Up Restaurant Evening

“Slinkies”, Madonna, Neon & Rubik Cubes – all icons of the 1980s.

With the funky 80’s in mind the Hospitality Management students pulled off an exciting event for the practical component to the Event Management module.

The scene was set with colorful and elaborate table decorations; making the guests feel like they have stepped back in time.

The Chef-lecturers and Professional Cookery students created wonderful dishes such as Mini Beef & Bacon sliders accompanied by Mini Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup Shooters as well as mini Quiche Lorraine tartlets as a welcome snack and for starter Avocado & Prawn Cocktail, main course was Blackened Chicken Breast, Feta & Butternut Risotto.  The grande finale was a classic Crepe Suzette served with Vanilla Ice Cream. 

The food was in abundance and the “sweets table” ensured that there was ample snacking between courses.


The students responsible for Food & Drink Service spoiled the guests for a real 80’s experience by dressing the part – which was comical considering most of them were only born in the 90’s.



Once again the students opted for Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre as their charity of choice and we would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to Graham Kennard for supporting us and being active partners with The Capital Hotel School and Training Academy.
