Advanced Diploma in Food & Beverage Services Supervision

Ingredients of the Course

  • Supervision of health, safety and security in the workplace.
  • Resource management in the food & beverage area.
  • Supervision of staff training.
  • Supervision of food & beverage service.
  • Planning and managing special events.
  • Supervision of wine service.
  • Advice on complementing food and beverage products.
  • Supervision of customer service.
  • The principles of supervising and leading a team.


Select quality candidates who will:

  • Be available for a 1 day initial assessment and induction programme.
  • Attend classes of approximately 7 hours theory/practical and 1 hour lunch break per day for 2 days per month (one every second week) – approximately 25 days in total over a period of one year.
  • Submit proof of competence in the workplace (hospitality workplace-based) and in-service assignments on due dates.
  • Pass a 2½-hour City & Guilds examination.

  • Top-class lecturers as well as industry specialists.
  • Learning material and equipment required for training programmes.
  • City & Guilds candidate logbook and Smartscreen (electronic support material).
  • A light meal and two breaks with refreshments on each lecture day.
  • City & Guilds examination on set dates in June and November.
  • Practical assessments in the workplace or at The Capital Hotel School and Training Academy.
  • Certification: International Specialised Diploma.

Serving of Qualification

At the end of the course candidates will be required to demonstrate their supervisory skills, both knowledge-based and practical, in order to fulfil the requirements of the assessments and receive their qualification.
