Indian Delights

A feast of Indian Delights

The exotic aroma of curry and spice was drifting on a summer breeze at The Capital Hotel School and Training Academy on Tuesday, 12 November 2013.

The final Food and Beverage Event of 2013 was celebrated with a variety of Indian dishes and even a traditional Indian dancer to entertain guests.

Traditionally an Indian feast will be commenced with the “Namaste”; a blessing bestowed upon the food and the preparation of the meal.

NAMASTE

“I honour the place in you where Spirit lives

I honour the place in you which is

of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,

when you are in that place in you,

and I am in that place in me,

then we are One…”
Phudina Jeera Pani

A welcome drink of “Cumin Water Cooler” was an exotic start to the evening.

The starter was aptly titled “An Introduction to Spice” with a selection of  Aloo Poshto, Samoosa & Paneer and a selection of other bits and pieces to awaken the senses.

The Main Course (“A Bond of Spice“) was an assortment of exciting dishes featuring Kerala Fish Biryani, Tikka Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh, Marigold stained Basmati Rice, Goobi Masala – Curried Cauliflower. Mushroom Shagoti – Sautéed Mushrooms with Fenugreek and a selection of pickles, sambals and chutneys.

Dessert (“A Lingering of Sugar and Spice“) was a selection of  Mini Kheer – Rice Puddings, Burfee – Coconut Cream Fudge, Penda Rolls – Almond and Rose Water Rolls, Jalebis – Syrup Soaked Crisp Pastries  and Gulaab Jamuun – Saffron Syrup Soaked Dough Balls.

The evening was a great success and the money raised contributed to the year-long fundraising for WetNose Animal Rescue Centre.
