Freedom Day – 27 April 2014

Freedom Day is a public holiday in South Africa celebrated every year on 27th April. On this day in 1994, the first democratic and non-racial national election was held in the country.
In the election held in South Africa in 1994, everyone of age over 18 of any race even non-citizens were allowed to vote. Nelson Mandela was elected as the first democratic President of South Africa on 10th May.

CHS students celebrated Freedom Day by posing for pictures in their “Proudly South African” attire.
