As a child growing up in South Africa, there’s no fonder memory, than enjoying your favourite flavoured ice-cold slushy on a warm summer’s day.

But who says that you can’t still enjoy this refreshing beverage?

Imagine this, the sun is blistering hot, there’s a slight cool breeze in the air, whilst you sit outside, sipping on a tantalizing ice cold Wine-Slushy – Hmm – What a perfect start to Summer!

This summer, don’t let the South African heat get the best of you, try these 3 DIY wine slushies that you can easily master in the comfort of your own home, with basic, every-day ingredients.

Peach Perfect

1This peachy-delight only requires two ingredients: a bottle of fruity white wine and some frozen peaches.

What you need:

  • 2-3 frozen peaches
  • 2 cups of your preferred white wine
  • Sliced peaches for garnishing (optional)

How to make it:

  • Place your frozen peaches & white wine into a blender & blend it into a smooth texture.
  • Freeze your mixture, stirring every 30 minutes until the perfect slushy consistency is achieved.
  • Serve chilled & use sliced peaches for garnishing.

Watermelon Wonder

Quench your thirst with this simple watermelon wine slushy recipe.2

What you need:

  • 4 cups of frozen watermelon cubes
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 bottle of your preferred white wine
  • Mint for garnishing (optional)

How to make it:

  • Combine the frozen watermelon cubes, the lemon juice, sugar and cold white wine into a blender & blend it into a smooth texture.
  • Pour your frozen mixture into a serving glass of your choice & add mint leaves for garnishing.

Summer Sweet Strawberry

Sweeten your taste buds with this classic frozen rose wine slushy.

What you need:

  • 1 cup of frozen strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 bottle of your preferred sweet rose wine
  • Crushed ice
  • Sliced strawberries for garnishing (optional)

How to make it:

  • Add your frozen strawberries, sugar & preferred sweet rose wine into a blender; blend until a smooth texture.
  • Add the crushed ice to your mixture & slightly blend ingredients together to get a perfect slushy effect.
  • Pour your frozen mixture into a serving glass of your choice & top it off with some fresh strawberries.
