Cookery Course for Domestic Workers, Butlers & Au Pairs are FLYING!

CHS embarked on a new project which allowed Domestic Workers, Butlers & Au Pairs the opportunity to learn the basic skills necessary to prepare unpretentious home cooking.

The course is being run over 6 weeks, candidates attend class once a week, in the mornings. The classes are structured in an easy-to-follow manner which allows the candidates to prepare and cook certain items on their own or in teams of two.

Each candidate will be issued with basic knives, a special apron as well as a comprehensive booklet which will feature all the recipes and more.

A beautiful meal will not be complete without a beautiful table and Miss Lee Van Zyl incorporates the basics of table service and table settings with the candidates.

On the successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to

  • Prepare and cook breakfast dishes
  • Prepare and cook lunches/lunchboxes
  • Prepare and cook dinners
  • Prepare and cook meals for special occasions
  • Basic knife skills nutrition
  • Basic table settings and service

 

Two groups of candidates successfully completed the Level 1 course and was invited to attend a Certificate Ceremony at The Capital Hotel School and Training Academy.

Candidates and their employers were treated to sparkling wine and snacks as the certificates were handed over.
