Benita did in-house hotel training with Holiday Inn, specialising in Food and Beverage Operations.

She completed various additional courses in the following fields: Advance Assessor Course, One Minute Manager, On-job-training, Recruitment and Selection of Staff, Executive Negotiating Skills, Designing and Developing Outcomes Bases Assessment. She obtained her Wine Diploma through the Cape Wine Academy.

She has been in the Hospitality and Travel industry for 30 years gaining experience on a passenger liner, industrial/contract catering operations and events management.  She managed restaurants, hotel banqueting departments and hotel food and beverage departments. She was Key Accounts Sales Executive for Fedics Food Services, Area Sales Manager of Avis Rent a Car and managed a tour operating business. She was involved in training people both in the operational as well as sales divisions.

Benita lecturered in Food and Beverage Management, incorporating Events Management at The Capital Hotel School and Training Academy since inception and was also the Manager of the CHS Training Academy.

Benita also lectures part-time for the Cape Wine Academy presenting various tertiary and public wine courses; specialising in Food and Wine Pairing.

She is a member of Skål International, of which she was President for 6 years and a member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
