Advanced Diploma in Reception & Front Office Services

Become a Manager or Supervisor in Reception & Front Office –
with an internationally recognised qualification.

Who is the qualification for?

  • Candidates who have gained experience in reception services and wish to extend their departmental knowledge of planning, monitoring and supervising staff and physical resources, handling accounts and transactions
  • Those who want to advance their careers to being qualified receptionists in a managerial or supervisory position, with an internationally recognised advanced diploma.

What does the qualification cover?

The qualification covers:

  • Maintainance of a healthy, safe and secure working environment.
  • Supervising customer service.
  • Supervising staff training.
  • Principles of supervising and leading teams.
  • Resource management in the front office area.
  • Supervising Front Office operations.
  • Supervising Cash Handling operations.

Course Format:

  • Lectures and presentations 2 days per month by top-class lecturers as well as industry specialists.
  • All materials and equipment required for training programmes will be supplied.
  • A Candidate logbook and Smartscreen (electronic support material from City & Guilds) will be provided
  • All textbooks relating to the courses are included.
  • A light meal and two breaks with refreshments will be served on the days that lectures are attended.
  • Theoretical assessment in the form of an examination will take place in June 2014.
  • Practical assessments will take place in the workplace or at The Capital Hotel School and Training Academy.
  • Certification: International Specialised Diploma.

Candidates’ Responsibilities:

  • Availability for a 1 day initial assessment and induction programme
  • Attendance of classes of approximately 7 hours theory/practical and 1 hour lunch break per day for 2 days per month (one every second week) – approximately 25 days in total over a period of one year.
  • Submission of in-service assignments (hospitality workplace – based) on due dates.
  • Passing of a 2½ -Hour City & Guilds Examination.
  • Proof competence in the workplace.

Requirements for Qualification:

At the end of the course, candidates will be required to demonstrate their managerial and supervisory skills, both knowledge-based and practical, in order to fulfil the requirements of the assessments.
