2012 CHS Student Winter Warmer Project

There is a wonderful tradition at CHS – we want to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable amongst us. Each year students and management collect blankets that are then distributed amongst one or more organisations that work mainly with children.

Chef Mostert, the driver of the annual project, managed to collect a total number of 67 blankets from the students. CHS matched the number resulting in us being able to donate 134 blankets to two places taking care of children.

Guided by Anne Keyworth, Manager of Arcadia City Improvement District, (ACID), we took the blankets to the Divine Praise Ministries, a shelter for orphaned or misplaced children between the ages of 4 and 17 on their premises. They are also involved with child headed households in their district. Our next stop was at New Beginnings, the home of 38 abandoned little babies and toddlers – newborn until the age of 4.

It was a heartwarming and fulfilling experience for all of us that made the trip.  A special thank you to the following students who accompanied us even though it was their winter holiday.
